On Sunday, at least 14 people were killed in a landslide during a funeral ceremony in the Cameroonian capital, Yaounde.
“We counted 10 bodies at the scene of the accident, and before our arrival, four more bodies were taken away, and there are also dozens of serious cases scattered in hospitals,” the regional center governor, Nasri Paul Biya, told the Cameroonian national broadcaster CRTV.
“The search for survivors continued into the night,” he added.
Biya described the area where the landslide occurred in the Damas neighborhood of Yaoundé as “a very dangerous area” and encouraged people to leave before the authorities arrived to evacuate it.
