Russian media reported that 3 people were killed and two strategic nuclear bombers were damaged in explosions at two air bases in western Russia.
The Moscow Times said that 3 people were killed and two nuclear bombers were likely damaged by separate explosions at two Russian air bases.
It added that the Russian Defense Ministry had not yet commented on the reported incidents, which took place hundreds of kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
The local Astra news channel on Telegram quoted unnamed sources as saying that two Tu-95 strategic nuclear bombers were damaged by the fall of a drone on the runway of the “Engels” base located in the Saratov region, western Russia.

It added that two soldiers were treated for various injuries.
Engels is a base for the Tu-95 and Tu-160 strategic nuclear bombers, located 500 km east of the Ukrainian border.
Satellite images released last week showed about a dozen bombers of the two models at Engels Air Force Base.
Media said that those bombers were part of Russian preparations to launch major air strikes on Ukraine, according to the Moscow Times.
In a separate incident, an explosion in a fuel tank killed 3 people and injured 6 others at an air base located in the Ryazan region, southeast of Moscow, according to the Rio Novosti news agency, citing unnamed emergency officials.
It is not yet clear what caused the explosion, according to the same source.
