An earthquake measuring 7 on the Richter scale struck the Guadalcanal region in the Solomon Islands, in the South Pacific Ocean.
The US Geological Survey reported that the quake occurred at 13:03 local time, 57 kilometers southwest of the capital, Honiara.
For its part, the Solomon Islands Meteorological Agency stated that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 15 km, and confirmed that there were no tsunami risks.
