Nine people were killed in a fuel tank explosion in the Salang Tunnel in Parwan Province, Afghanistan.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works in the Taliban Interim Government, Mawlawi Hamidullah Misbah, said in a press statement, Sunday, that many vehicles were burned as a result of a fuel tank explosion in the tunnel, at night hours.
He indicated that 9 people were killed due to the explosion and fire, in addition to the injury of 30 people, according to preliminary information.
Mesbah pointed out that the fire was brought under control this morning.

According to the Ministry of Health of the Taliban government, the injured were transferred to hospitals.
It is believed that the explosion occurred due to the overturning of the fuel tank in the tunnel, which is the only passage between the Afghan capital, Kabul, and the northern states.
