An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale struck North Carolina, in the eastern United States, early Tuesday.
The US Geological Survey said in a statement that the quake occurred at a depth of about 16.1 kilometers in an area 12 kilometers west-southwest of Ferndale, in coastal Humboldt County.
In the context, the American network “CNN” reported that most homes and businesses in Humboldt County were without electricity, early in the day as a result of the earthquake.
The US authorities did not announce until (12:45 GMT) that the earthquake caused any casualties.
