Five people, including a security official, were killed Thursday when a police helicopter crashed in the state of Aguascalientes, central Mexico.
State Governor Maria Teresa Jimenez said, in a press conference, that a public security helicopter crashed Thursday morning near a hospital in the “Jesus Maria” district of Aguascalientes, killing the state’s chief of security, Porfirio Sanchez Mendoza, and four others.
She added that preliminary information indicates that the helicopter crash was an accident, without further details.
Sanchez Mendoza was arrested last February after the Federal Public Prosecution Office opened a case against him for torture, but he was released after 7 months due to lack of evidence, and he returned to his job.
