An event on the occasion of International Turkish Coffee Day in Moscow

An event was held in the Russian capital, Moscow, on Monday, on the occasion of International Turkish Coffee Day.

The event was organized at the Turkish Embassy in Moscow, in cooperation with the branch of the Turkish “Yunus Emre” Cultural Institute in the city.

During the program, which was attended by Russian and Turkish citizens, the method of preparing and serving authentic Turkish coffee was introduced.

Turkish Ambassador Mehmet Samsar said, in a speech, that Turkish coffee, with its foam, aroma, and the way it is prepared and served, is one of the most delicious drinks in the world.

Samsar told the story of the arrival of coffee in Turkey, pointing out that Turkish coffee is a culture at the same time.

In turn, the coordinator of the Yunus Emre Institute in Moscow, Mehmet Ulker, pointed out that Turkish coffee occupies an important place in daily life in Turkey.

He pointed out that “Turkish coffee” is well known by this name in Russia as well as around the world.

On December 5, 2013, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) included Turkish coffee in the list of intangible cultural heritage.

On the anniversary of its inclusion in the UNESCO list, corresponding to December 5, the International Turkish Coffee Day is celebrated.
