US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, on Tuesday, congratulated Pushpa Kamal Dahal on the occasion of his swearing-in as the new prime minister of a coalition government in Nepal.
“Congratulations to Pushpa Kamal Dahal and (government) coalition partners on winning the federal election,” Blinken said in a tweet.
“The United States supports the democratic process in Nepal and looks forward to working together to strengthen our strong and long-term relationship,” he added.
On Monday, the newly appointed Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, was sworn in before the country’s President, Bidya Devi Bandari, at the Presidential Complex in the capital, Kathmandu, to lead a government coalition of seven different parties.

This is the third time that Dahal assumed power since the withdrawal of his Maoist group from an armed revolution against the Hindu monarchy and its transition to political action in 2006, according to the Associated Press.
And last Sunday, the country’s president appointed Dahal as a new prime minister, after he and the main opposition forces won the majority of parliamentary seats in the November 20 elections.
