Chinese Foreign Ministry: Arab countries are natural partners in the "Belt and Road" initiative

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said, Thursday, that the Arab countries are an “important part” of the “Silk Road” civilization and a “natural partner” in the “Belt and Road” initiative.

This came in a press conference held by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning in the capital, Beijing.

According to Ning, cooperation between China and Arab countries on the “Belt and Road” initiative has become “better organized and increasingly fruitful.”

She added, “The Arab countries are an important part of the Silk Road civilization (an ancient trade line used by caravans between countries of the world) and a natural partner for the Belt and Road initiative.”

Ning indicated that there is cooperation between Beijing and the Arab countries in many fields. Including the construction of Chinese companies for Lusail Stadium, one of the World Cup stadiums in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, in addition to the launch of direct shipment of goods between China and Sudan, and the trial operation of the first electric train in Egypt.

The spokeswoman said that China has implemented more than 200 major projects with Arab countries in infrastructure, energy and other fields, benefiting about two billion people on both sides.

She stressed that “deepening cooperation in the Belt and Road Initiative will bring more benefits to the people of Arab countries and the rest of the world.”

As of this December, China has signed cooperation documents with 21 Arab countries within the “Belt and Road” initiative, the latest of which was with Algeria, last Monday.

And China’s “Belt and Road” initiative, a project to build roads, ports, railways and industrial zones in 65 countries representing 60 percent of the world’s population, and providing about a third of the world’s total output.
