The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) announced the sale of nearly three million tickets for the World Cup finals in Qatar.
And the Qatar News Agency, QNA, quoted a FIFA spokesperson (who did not reveal his name) about “2.95 million tickets sold until the start of the World Cup, Sunday.”
The agency stated that the countries that topped the list of the most popular ticket buyers were Qatar (the host country), Saudi Arabia, the United States of America, Mexico, Britain, the Emirates, Argentina, France, India and Brazil.
The agency said that FIFA President Gianni Infantino had revealed earlier that “the tournament helped increase revenue over the past four years to a record level of $ 7.5 billion.”

On Sunday, the FIFA World Cup kicked off with the opening match between Qatar and Ecuador at Al-Bayt Stadium, in the first World Cup to be held in the Middle East and the Arab world.
