The Swiss national team defeated its Cameroonian counterpart, 1-0, on Thursday, at Al Janoub Stadium, in the opening match of Group G of the 2022 World Cup.
The match was equal at its beginning, as both teams searched for the net, amid a greater desire on the part of the Cameroonian side, who Toko Ekambi missed the chance of a goal in the 10th minute.
And Switzerland almost came out of the first half, ahead of the result, had it not been for the header of defender Manuel Akanji, a few centimeters above the Cameroonian crossbar, in stoppage time.
And after only 3 minutes had passed since the start of the second half, the Swiss national team managed to score the only winning goal through Brill Embolo, who received a pass from Xherdan Shakiri and brilliantly turned it into Andre Onana’s goal.
