Iran scored 3 valuable points after its well-deserved victory over its counterpart Wales with two clean goals, on Friday, at the “Ahmed bin Ali Al Mundial” stadium, in the second group competitions of the “Qatar 2022” World Cup.
The start came strong from the Iranian side, which attacked heavily and threatened the Welsh goal early with a ground ball that Serdar Azmoun hit in the 6th minute, which went near the post.
In the 16th minute, Ali Gulzadeh scored a goal after a beautiful exchange of the ball with Azmoun, but the referee canceled it with the help of the “mouse” technique, due to the presence of offside.
The only offensive appearance of the Welsh national team in the first half was from a cross that reached Kiefer Moore, who followed it directly into the goal, but Iranian goalkeeper Sayed Hussein brilliantly saved the situation.

In the second half, Iranian pressure continued on the Welsh regions, and luck stood on the side of the “Sons of Gaul” on two consecutive occasions when the post returned a ball to Azmoun and then another shot by Gulzadeh.
The Welsh national team played with ten players since the 86th minute, after its goalkeeper Wayne Hennessy was sent off for his reckless intervention on Mahdi Taremi, which his Iranian opponent took advantage of and scored the first goal in the eighth minute of stoppage time with a powerful shot fired by Rouzbeh Jeshmi.
After the goal, the Welsh defense collapsed and immediately received a second goal, signed by Ramin Rezaian, who faced the goal after a counterattack and easily hit the net.
With this result, the Iranian team won the first three points and rose to second place, while Wales’ balance froze at one point and fell to fourth place, awaiting the result of England’s match with the United States.
It is noteworthy that Iran suffered a heavy defeat against England by six goals to two in the first round, while Wales tied with America with a goal for the same.
