Iran announced, on Wednesday, the killing of a prominent officer with the rank of colonel in the Revolutionary Guards, after an explosion near the Syrian capital, Damascus.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said, in a statement, that Colonel Dawood Jaafari, one of his satellite air forces advisers in Syria, was killed in an explosive device on the side of a road, on the outskirts of Damascus.
The statement added that the incident took place, on Monday, holding Israel responsible for the attack.
The statement did not mention any details of other losses due to the explosion.

It is noteworthy that the Israeli army rarely comments on its military operations in Syria, but he stressed on many occasions that launched strikes on Iran -backed groups.
Last March, two Iranian Revolutionary Guards officers were killed in an air strike on the outskirts of Damascus.
