Thursday, the International Union of Muslim Scholars called for urgent relief to be provided to Indonesia following two devastating earthquakes.
On Monday, a 5.6-magnitude earthquake hit West Java Island after another Friday with a 7.5-magnitude off the coast of western Indonesia.
The federation (based in Doha) said, in a statement, that it “extends its sincere condolences and sympathy to the people, president and government of Indonesia, asking God Almighty to rest their victims in the abundance of his mercy.”
And he appealed to “Islamic countries, charitable and humanitarian institutions, and benevolent people to carry out the duty of urgent relief from zakat, public alms, and others.
