Hundreds of Palestinians in the northern West Bank, Monday, mourned the body of a child who was shot dead by the Israeli army late Sunday evening.
The funeral procession for Jana Magdy Issam Zakarneh, 16, departed from Jenin Governmental Hospital to her family’s home in the eastern neighborhood of the city, according to Anadolu Agency.
The mourners raised Palestinian flags and chanted denouncing the Israeli “violations”, while gunmen fired bullets into the air.
In a statement on Sunday evening, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced “the death of the 16-year-old girl, Jana, after she was shot in the head by the occupation soldiers during the storming of Jenin.”

Palestinian officials and factions condemned, in separate statements, Zakarneh’s death, and called for an international investigation.
In a statement, the Palestinian Prime Minister, Muhammad Shtayyeh, described the killing of the girl as “a crime added to the horrific crimes of killing children that the occupation soldiers continue to commit.”
For months, the West Bank has witnessed a remarkable escalation of tension as a result of Israeli incursions and arrests, which spark clashes between the Israeli army and settlers on the one hand, and the Palestinians on the other.
