The Ecuador national team opened the “Qatar 2022” World Cup finals by defeating the host country’s national team with two free goals, on Sunday, on the grounds of “Al-Bayt” stadium, in the first group competitions.

The match started with a clear advantage for Ecuador, who managed to hit the net early with a goal that was canceled by the referee in the 5th minute after referring to the “mouse” technique.

Ecuador continued its distinguished start until it advanced with a correct goal, this time, in the 16th minute, from a penalty kick caused by the Qatari goalkeeper, Saad Al-Sheeb, by wrongly interfering with Ener Valencia, who executed the violation himself on the left side of the home side’s goal.

The Qatari team seemed affected by the pressure placed on it before the start of the World Cup, and the prestige of the big dates, which made it outside the atmosphere of the match and unable to create any opportunity inside the opponent’s areas.

On the other hand, the Ecuadorian national team was present as required and confirmed its superiority with a second goal, which Valencia signed with a distinguished header in the 31st minute, investing a perfect cross from Angelo Preciado.

In the second half, the Ecuadorian national team played in a way that kept its progress without allowing its Qatari counterpart to try to return the result, ending the match with a comfortable victory that made it leader of the group temporarily with three points.

The second day of the Qatar World Cup will witness an expected confrontation for the first group, which will bring together the Netherlands with Senegal, and England will meet Iran and the United States with Wales in the second group.
