Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the recovery of more than 300 soldiers from his country’s army who had been captured by the Russian army since the beginning of the war on February 24.
A post by Zelensky on his Telegram account, Friday, indicated that 50 Ukrainian soldiers returned to their homes in a prisoner exchange deal with Russia on December 1.
He explained that the total number of prisoners who were liberated exceeded 300, saying: “Let’s return them all. We will liberate all of Ukraine, all Ukrainians will be in their homes.”
On February 24, Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine, which was followed by international rejection and economic sanctions on Moscow, which requires Kyiv to abandon plans to join military entities to end its operation, which the latter considers an “interference” in its sovereignty.
