Infantino welcomes the idea of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Greece hosting the 2030 World Cup

FIFA President Gianni Infantino welcomed, on Tuesday, the idea of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Greece hosting the 2030 World Cup as a joint file, after the impressive success of the last edition in Qatar.

This came in an interview with the President of “FIFA” with the Qatari “Al-Kass” channels, in which he said: “I have visited Egypt, Greece and many other countries and I see that they are wonderful countries.”

He added, “The decision on the 2030 World Cup will be taken by the FIFA Council by 2024.”

He continued, “The World Cup is back in the Middle East again? Why not, Qatar has presented a very impressive version and everyone enjoyed it, and I am sure that people will be happy to return to the Middle East again and see new places.”

The British newspaper The Times reported last August that Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Greece were preparing to submit a joint file to win the right to host the 2030 World Cup.

The newspaper indicated that if the joint file wins, the tournament will be held again in the winter season, as Infantino became convinced to repeat the experiment again in the Middle East due to the great success of the last edition in Qatar.

It is expected that the file of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Greece will face strong competition from other joint files, such as the file of Portugal and Spain, and a four-fold file of Latin American countries, Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and Chile.

It is worth noting that the next finals will be held in three countries, the United States of America, Canada and Mexico in 2026, according to what was announced by FIFA in June 2018.
